Stepping towards bright future…
“Justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong, but in finding out the right and upholding it, whenever found, against the wrong.”– Theodore Roosevelt
“You are saying that India is an emerging superpower then why do five Indians die every minute from hunger?” demanded my 12 yr old sister. I had just ended my pitch to her about why India is emerging as the world’s next growth engine; I don’t have any answer and picked up the short answer ’politics’. But she couldn't understand it because I never told her anything about the flaws in the Indian political system as I always wanted her to be a proud Indian.
When I started writing something on this article, I felt pity on myself as to why my country is making me to write against my own people , it is nothing but accusing my own mother.2500 billion US dollars of Indian money were in Swiss banks even if it is typing error it is a lot of money. Two third of Indians are below the poverty line. 70%of Indians have no access to sanitation. These simple yet complicated causes compelled me to write this article. This article is entirely dedicated to the sole purpose of how we, the YOUNGSTERS COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Our youth doesn't form 100% population of the country but they do form 100% future of the country.
During one of the journeys to my hometown I got a chance to have a candid discussion with a reserved cop who sat beside me in the bus. He works in SP office Krishna. Our discussion was so open that we discussed almost every flaw in the political and judicial system of the country. He said “even if you murder someone, just come to me with some bucks I can easily get you out of the case” .Through that discussion with him I came to the conclusion that Indian judiciary system has no meaning at all. You can actually manipulate any one with a mere amount of money in this country. Justice is truth in action, people want justice not charity, and poverty does not create as much crime as crime creates poverty. Lack of justice makes people lose respect to the law. If a protector becomes a predator what does a common man do?
We must distinguish between partners of crime and victims of crime. I applied for a passport; I need it urgently because I need to clear my GRE in two and half months. The reason for my delay is mere laziness so when a passport officer came for the verification I don’t dare not to offer any bribe and I had given it to his demand because I don’t want to take risk and deprived the most deserving person. What had I become? a partner of crime and this person, a victim of crime. When it is a life and death situation, someone is bleeding on the road you took him to the hospital. The worker says ‘I don’t work’, if you bribe somebody they take him right away , your principle says you not to bribe but the question is will you lay him bleed to death or bribe?. If I bribed him, legally I just broke the law but ethically I saved a life. Am I part of the crime or victim of the crime? In a society which reached its peaks in corruption, one has to do illegal things in order to do legal things! Hence it clearly makes out a point that 99% of Indians are not part of the crime they are honest they have become victims of crime.
Many a time’s people say I should stay away from politics as it is a dirty game. There is nothing like dirty game but only dirty players. The water we drink, the medicine we take everything is the result of politics .Being motivated by the situation of our country I thought of doing my bit of service to the country by joining a political party which promised not to distribute any liquor or money for the sake of votes. I seriously took part in the rigorous campaign for four complete days and covered the area which is allotted to me. In the day of election due to lack of manpower they requested me to act as polling booth agent (he is the representative of the party and takes care whether voting is carried out fairly or not).As I have no work that day and this could be the best way of doing my bit of service for my country so, I agreed it. But to my extreme wonder I actually saw the scene that I never supposed to. Some strangers came and tried to convince me for accepting the bribe so that they can easily facilitate their common game of rigging. The polling officer who is like an island of support in the sea of opposition observed all this advised me to give a complaint so that we can go for re-election, this gave me sufficient courage to stop the rigging and it worked well. The question here is the one who offered me the bribe is least bothered about the impression, that this incident creates in my mind, on my people. This country has never been destroyed by outside enemies but always by the traitors inside. These traitors have no limits. , Britishers did not do this in 200 years what our rascals have done in 60 years.
We must eradicate this nation of corrupt breed of traitors who are ready to sell this country for personal gains. These political leaders divide the nation on the basis of religion, caste, creed for every 5 years of their tenure, to preserve their vote banks thus hampering the development of our country. The medication for my motherland who is suffering from this disease may be: right to election must be accompanied with right to reject; witness protection plan must be tried in a day to day basis to clean up the system, finally be patriotic and go green. Every one beside, will follow you.
Today’s problems are yesterdays short sighted solutions, if we catch hold of the political cancer at the very beginning we can easily root it out in the mere future. The main objective of the government is good governance to good people with good laws, it takes care of everything. If we are not willing to struggle for our own dignity we don’t deserve freedom. Our past meant to be ‘do or die’ it entirely changed the map of the world. A granny’s armchair might provoke a thought but can only be portrayed by the youthful feet. If we still continue to rely upon the annual rings of the ancient political tree of India, it would surely be an elevation of the spot light on our impotency . If you want to wait for 200 years, good luck; I am not willing to do that, either the country changes or I change and I am not ready to change anymore….The country has to change.
Don't sit in USA and talk about developing India. It is nothing more than hypocrisy.
ReplyDeleteSome one has to break something in their life time....
ReplyDelete"NEED" makes you to do anything dude, which made you to brake the ethic of not giving bribe to the police. Even a person like you who thinks about changing the country breaks your ethics what about the comman man?How cannot lead his life without compromising?
People has to change first....
Generations may change but people are not going to change.....this is
"EASIER SAID THAN DONE"
@chandu...Though I am in US. I am still an Indian, I am here only to learn something and not to settle down here
ReplyDeletewell my suggestion is learn to follow rules, learn not to bribe and learn to be realistic.
ReplyDeleteyour blog picture supports pessimism. There are rules and laws in India through which children can have free education and food.

@chandu I agree that India has made some policies for the free education and free food bt the question is how transparent the policies are and how much of the invested GDP in this, is reaching directly to fill the stomachs of children. We really need technology for the transparency in governance to make sure every rupee we spend should be meaningfull
ReplyDeleteBro may be you are right up to some extent. Yes every one know the fact about the country where we are living, how we are living and how good we are living... Every common man's first and best need of their life is food. if they are happy with that every thing is going to change in a matter of time. At least start from our side to help those with the money we earn. One day for sure we can see a bright side of our country.... Vande Mataram... be proud to be an Indian
ReplyDeleteHello my dear brother, how much u have been done till now for our country,it's not a politicians problem,it's our problem, every person should be participation in which has u showed . ReplyDeleteYou are addressing an issue that is a cut and paste to what is happening in my country Kenya. Corruption is a cancer that can kill development, so a theory says. I completely understand your anger at the level of corruption in your country. Anybody with a love and concern for his motherland will harbor such interest in addressing the vice. Am not offering a simple solution but the buck stops with the rule of law,the citizenry, civil society, the media etc according to me.
ReplyDelete@David....
ReplyDeleteWhat i think is...
The recent survey conducted by transparency international shows that BRIC countries are more corrupted, which are considered to be the economic growth engines. This is mainly due to the fact of low literacy rate and irrational decisions of the government.. Slowly this has to be eliminated. Unless and until the citizens don't decide what they want, the countries will be developing but not developed.
